Crescent Moon
Wearing the Crescent Moon upon the forehead for any woman entering the priestesshood of Avalon is a privilege and an honor of the highest esteem. In today's society, women have careers that wearing the Crescent Moon would be considered distracting or viewed as non-professional in today's white-collar industry. Today, the Crescent Moon has no meaning to those outside the Avalonian path. There are women who proudly display their Crescent Moon upon their forehead, for all to see. But for others, who wish to wear the Crescent Moon may have obligations that prohibit them from doing so. This does not mean that they put their careers above their path, but rather, to ensure that they are taken seriously outside of their path.
When a priestess performs a ceremony, those who are partaking along with her, may feel a sense of something missing. Seeing the Crescent Moon upon her forehead adds to the symbolism and the mystery.
There are alternatives that could be done so that when one life's aspect does not clash with the other life's aspect. Today many cosmetic products that can be creatively used to place the Crescent Moon upon a priestess forehead prior to any Avalonian ceremony, and can be easily removed later. Henna, glitter, make up pencils are just a few examples.
There are numerous other possibilities that one can try. Keeping within tradition gives a gift to those who seek her mysteries of Avalon. Even the smallest things such as a simple tattoo of a Crescent Moon upon the forehead ensures of keeping a sacred tradition alive and well.
Brightest Blessings, Fawnn Rose
